There are beautiful dune beaches with coconut
palms all along the coast from Ceara (westside)
to the State of Paraiba (southside). Contrary
to numerous Brazilian beaches (Rio de Janeiro,
Salvador, Recife), the beaches of Natal are
not polluted. Among these beaches, there are
the four-kilometres long Ponta Negra beach
and the wonderful Cotovelo beach. It's undoubtedly
the most lively and frequented by tourists
and middle-class "Natalenses". There is no
problem of insecurity.

This sea resort is the starting point of
the Sun Road.
The "Barreira do inferno" (hell
barrier), former rocket lauching site which
is not used anymore is situated in the dunes
on the beach.
Natal dunes are very famous in Brazil, in
particular the Morro da Careca (the bald man's
hill), the road through the closed park and
Pipa beach, Baia Formosa.
